My brain often feels like a browser with 47 tabs open, and this is magnified around the end of the year when I am preparing to travel to visit family, or getting ready for family to land on my doorstep (can't wait!).
I am sure you know what I mean...
All the usual stuff like
- what will I make for dinner, and do I have the ingredients I need?
- Am I going to have enough time to finish the project I am working on before the end of the year?
- What will I do with the surplus zucchini in the garden?
- Which recipe did I use for pickled cucumber last year? Will I use the same one again this year?
- How many harvesters will we need on Monday?
- I need a haircut. Make an appointment before you forget again.
- What is this windscreen wiper blade doing on my desk?
- What else do I need to do to get our new online store up and running?
- What time do I need to leave to get Racquel to the train station on time?
- Where did all the oranges I bought go?
- What will I get the grandkids for Christmas?
- What will we do when everyone is home?
And the list goes on and on and on...
And these don't include all the micro decisions that clog up my brain. By the end of a day, after a thousand tiny choices, my brain just seems to clocks off with decision fatigue, and I forget things!
I have started implementing strategies to help me with this decision/ memory fatigue. I make lists, I set alarms, I try to keep my house and my desk uncluttered, I have a routine, etc. And, I am stopping and creating distance between me and 'the work' more often. Even if it is just one afternoon swimming under a local waterfall followed by one night at the river sitting by the fire just chatting. It is so good for me! I highly recommend it for you too!
We know your life is full too, and for those who place their orders with us online, it is easy to miss the order cut off time. To make things easier, we’re offering a Sunday evening reminder text with a direct link to the store, so ordering your veggies is quick and easy (no remembering required).
If you’d like to be added to this reminder list, simply reply yes to this email and we’ll take care of the rest.
Hopefully this can be one less tab open in your mental browser!
